These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and After ("we," "our," "us") governing your use of the After mobile application (the "App"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms.

You must be at least 16 years old to use After, consistent with its App Store age rating.
After is a self-guided personal tool to support you through the end of a relationship — including journaling, mood and habit check-ins, a no-contact streak tracker, a designated "anchor" contact feature, activity suggestions, and related content. Some features are free; others require an auto-renewing subscription (Section 5).
After is not a substitute for professional mental health treatment, medical advice, or emergency services. If you are in crisis, thinking about harming yourself, or experiencing an emergency, do not rely on this App — contact a crisis line (in the US: call or text 988), go to your nearest emergency room, or contact local emergency services immediately.
You retain ownership of everything you enter into the App. Because it's stored locally on your device, you are responsible for backing it up if you want to preserve it beyond the life of your device or the App.
By entering another person's name and phone number as your "anchor," you represent that you have their permission to store their contact information within the App and to contact them via the messaging features described in our Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for verifying this consent, the accuracy of contact information you provide, whether the anchor receives or responds to any message, or any consequences arising from your relationship with your anchor. You agree not to use the App to harass, contact, or gather information about any person without their consent.
Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. You can manage your subscription or turn off auto-renewal at any time in your Apple ID Account Settings. If a free trial is offered, payment begins automatically at the end of the trial unless canceled at least 24 hours before it ends. All purchases are billed and managed by Apple; refund requests are handled by Apple according to its own policies.
The App may allow you to connect to third-party services (for example, Spotify). Your use of any third-party service is subject to that service's own terms and privacy policy.
You agree not to use the App for any unlawful purpose, to harass, stalk, or harm another person, to attempt to reverse-engineer or interfere with the App, or to misrepresent your identity or age.
The App, including its design, text, graphics, and underlying code, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property laws.
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE ERROR-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR THAT ANY CONTENT WILL BE PRESERVED OR RECOVERABLE.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP — INCLUDING CONSEQUENCES ARISING FROM THE ANCHOR FEATURE, LOST CONTENT, OR RELIANCE ON THE APP IN PLACE OF PROFESSIONAL CARE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE.
You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms.
We may update the App or these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict of law principles.
